July 4th is tomorrow, a Wednesday. That won't dampen revelers and parties from getting out of hand. The 4th of July holiday is right in the middle of summer-a little over a month since the last holiday Memorial Day and more than a month to the next one-Labor Day. Perhaps that's why so many people really celebrate on the 4th. The partying and public fireworks displays means people will be taking to the roads. The police ramp up patrols for this holiday and they're aggressively looking for … [Read more...]
Former NBA Star and Coach Arrested on Suspicion of DUI
Derek Fisher, 42, has been arrested for DUI after flipping his SUV in Los Angeles Sunday night. Fisher played for five NBA teams during his 18-year career but rose to stardom during his time with the LA Lakers, winning five NBA titles. DUI, Poor Judgment, and the Life of a Florida State Representative

DUI Diversion Program in Pinellas County?

In fact, the new Hillsborough State Attorney Andrew Warren was asked about it recently and artfully dodged the question. Could this happen in Pinellas? It's not likely, especially since Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney Bernie McCabe is not a big fan. His reasoning is interesting. He doesn't like the fact that it tends to … [Read more...]
Orange County Public Defender Arrested for DUI
Orange County assistant public defender Derreck Quarles has been arrested for DUI on his birthday. This isn't the first time and probably not the last time a public official gets arrested. However, the circumstances surrounding his arrest, police dashcam video evidence of the arrest, and the statements of Public Defender Robert Wesley are certainly some of the most damning and strangest I've seen in quite some time. The police video shows a man stopped by a female police officer begging to … [Read more...]
